Jacob Thomsen
Director of Public Policy
Jacob Thomsen has served as Director of Public Policy at North Dakota Family Alliance since 2026, where he plays a leading role in advancing the organization’s legislative priorities and contributing to significant policy achievements. In this position, he works closely with lawmakers and stakeholders to promote policies grounded in faith, family, and freedom. Prior to becoming Director of Public Policy, Jacob served as a Policy Analyst for the organization beginning in 2022.
Raised in Thompson, North Dakota, alongside his three brothers, Jacob developed a deep appreciation for the values and communities that define the state. He earned his B.A. in Politics with a minor in Criminal Justice from the University of Mary in Bismarck.
During his time at the university, he was also a member of the Marauders football team. In 2024, Jacob married his wife, Shaylee, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, and together they enjoy life in Bismarck. Outside of his professional work, he volunteers with his church’s youth group, values time with family and friends, and enjoys playing golf.
Jacob is honored to serve the people of North Dakota and remains committed to advancing policies that strengthen families, protect life, and uphold the Christian values that have long made North Dakota a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
